Nathalie Emmanuel

Born in Southend-on-Sea, a seaside town in Essex, Nathalie Emmanuel began her acting career as Nala in the stage production of *The Lion King*. She then transitioned to television, gaining popularity in the British soap opera *Hollyoaks* from 2007 to 2010, which explores the lives of teenagers in the suburbs of Chester. Emmanuel's next major role was in *Misfits*, a series about five young offenders who suddenly acquire superpowers. Her career reached new heights in 2013 when she was cast as Missandei, a freed slave who becomes Daenerys Targaryen's assistant and advisor in season 3 of *Game of Thrones*. Her character gained prominence and became a recurring role from season five onward. In 2014, she made her big-screen debut as Ramsey, a computer expert, in *Fast & Furious 7*, starring alongside Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. The film achieved global revenues exceeding $1.5 billion, becoming one of the top-grossing films of all time. Emmanuel also appeared in *Fast & Furious 8* (2017) and *Fast & Furious 9* (2021). Meanwhile, she appeared in the post-apocalyptic film series *Maze Runner*, playing Harriet, the leader of a group of young women in *Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials* (2015) and *Maze Runner: The Death Cure* (2018). After *Game of Thrones*, Emmanuel starred as the lead in *Four Weddings and a Funeral*, a TV series adaptation of the beloved 1994 romantic comedy. She also played a recurring role in the comedy series *Die Hart*, where a fictional version of Kevin Hart tries to land a role in an action film. Versatile in her roles, she voiced a character in *The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance* (2019), a prequel to the 1982 animated film *The Dark Crystal*. She continued to explore diverse genres, starring in the zombie film *Army of Thieves* for Netflix and the thriller *The Ball of Hell*, where she plays a young woman who, after her mother's death, uncovers the existence of a cousin and is thrust into a perilous survival struggle. In May 2023, Emmanuel will appear in *Fast X*, alongside Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris, and will also be featured in the adventure film *Arthur the King* with Mark Wahlberg.
